Overgrips Explained: Do You Need One?

An overgrip is a thin, tacky wrap you put over your racket’s existing handle. It is one of the cheapest upgrades in padel.

Why use one?

  • Better grip when your hands get sweaty.
  • Extra comfort during long sessions.
  • Protects the original grip from wear.
  • Lets you adjust the handle thickness slightly.

How often should you change it?

When it feels smooth, dirty or starts to peel, it is time for a fresh one. Players who sweat a lot may change theirs more often.

How to fit one

Start at the bottom of the handle, wrap upwards with a slight overlap, and finish with the supplied tape. Keep the tension even so there are no lumps.
